Paros island Greece is known worldwide as home to some of the best windsurfing anywhere and not just in the incredibly beautiful Greek islands. Due to the almost constant powerful winds surrounding the island, Paros, along with several other of its Cycladic cousins boasts almost guaranteed idyllic conditions for wind surfers of all abilities.

These winds called Meltemia are what cause Paros to be chosen by the PWA (Professional Wind surfers Association) each year, since 1993 as venue for the Windsurfing World Cup. Taking place at New Golden Beach (Chryssi Akti) in early August it is the only such professional event wherein Greece welcomes wind surfers from all over the world.
